Great Vintage
That
decanter of Signatory's Cask Strength Collection... I'm going to say
it again: wonderful to see, terrible to pour from. Fortunately, it's
all about the content and that in this case is my favorite
Lowlander at cask strength after it was allowed to rest in a
bourbon barrel for a quarter of a century. Auchentoshan 1992 you
said? I buy it blind.
The nose
offers barely sugars, vanilla and coconut, but also some yellow
fruit that flirts with the tropics. Mango. Green banana, papaya. It
has something Irish. And something that reminds me a bit of mustard.
Very pleasant and intriguing.
Great
mouthfeel. Creamy and rich. Banana, mango, lime, guava, pineapple,
licorice, pepper, nutmeg, soft drying oak... yes, this is the better
work! Soft herbal notes, but above all quasi tropical fruit.
Delicious!
The
medium finish is relatively fruity, but especially soft and sweet.
