If you can help me expand my whisky palate, especially Auchentoshan, get in touch with me. Much obliged!
Auchentoshan
21 Year Old 1997 The Nectar of the Daily Drams No of bottles: undisclosed ABV : 53.4% Color : mahogany Tasted on 30/12/2019 |
Mon Chérie & Cuberdons
Belgian bottler The Nectar introduced a whole
range of new single casks in Paris and – hurray – one of them is an
Auchentoshan. But I confess: the price tag of around 280 EUR made me
hesitant to buy a bottle. So I scored a sample instead. What a
beautiful color!
Yes, hello! On the nose I get deep sherry with
raisins and chocolate, cold coffee, Mon Chérie and Cuberdons, old
leather and baked apples sprinkled with a good dose of cinnamon.
Christmas in my glass! Also a lovely floral hint, so typical for my
beloved Lowlander. Roasted nuts and roasted rice. This is wonderful!
Sturdy arrival with immediately a grand spiciness
on cinnamon, nutmeg and black pepper. Maple syrup, dark honey,
almond liqueur and lots of Seville oranges. In the meantime, the
typical Auchentoshan character stays upright. That’s pretty neat.
This is an absolute bomb!
The finish is warm, very long, dark and sweet –
simply delicious.
OMG, what a belter indeed. Okay, I’ll be getting
me a bottle after all. This one should not lack in the Toshan
Temple.
