If you can help me expand my whisky palate, especially Auchentoshan, get in touch with me. Much obliged!

Carn Mor has launched a new series under the banner Strictly Single Cask. The first Lowlander is this 5 years old Auchentoshan, cut to 50%. It was distilled on 30th May 2013 and bottle on the 29th October 2018. My buddy Manny brought me a bottle from Holland for just 45 EUR. But what a god awful label… Anyway.
Malty and candy-like sweet nose on nougat, freshly cut grass and unripe kiwi. Fresh as spring, but very light. Underneath lingers a sour note as if from flowers that have been too long in the vase. Luckily that does not dominate.
Fresh arrival, it must be said. Now I get lemon juicy with balls, malt sugars, white chocolate… but there is a very firm floral note that almost makes this soapy. Pity.
The finish is medium long on the same, which means I can almost blow soapy bubbles…
Bottled too early in my opinion. Not enough character.
