If you can help me expand my whisky palate, especially Auchentoshan, get in touch with me. Much obliged!
Auchentoshan
10 Year Old Scottish Power Number of bottles : undisclosed ABV : 40% Color : Gold Tasted on 01/05/2019 |
Lightweight
At the end of the 1980s my beloved Auchentoshan
bottled this 10 Year Old for Scottish Power. It was given out as a
gift to their employees, with a matching decanter. The contents,
however, is their regular 10 Year Old from that era. I poured it
during my 49th birthday tasting last January.
Candy-sweet nose on butterscotch and white fruit,
breakfast cereals and lemongrass. Fresh as spring, but far from
complex. A typical aperitif.
The arrival is quite weak, to be honest. Watery
almost. Chances are this is no longer 40% of course. White fruit,
but also some litchi and a hint of white pepper. There is a mildly
sour note in there that I cannot quite pinpoint.
The finish is short, softly peppery and easily
forgotten.
This is a lightweight from the period that Auchentoshan made only lightweight malts. Those days are long gone, luckily.
