If you can help me expand my whisky palate, especially Auchentoshan, get in touch with me. Much obliged!
Auchentoshan 1990 Silveroak Official Bottling, duty free Number of bottles: undisclosed ABV : 50,9% Color : old gold Tasted on 22/12/2013 |
Jasmin
The Silveroak first appeared on the duty free market last year and
is a mix of bourbon and orloroso sherry casks. Last summer, a second
batch from the same stocks was bottled, making it a 22 Year Old with
a slightly lower ABV.
It is a bit lighter than its predecessor. Nice toffee, Turkish
Delight and roasted almonds, but more tannins and mint as well. It
is less dark, if you get my meaning. Jasmin kicks in. And pine wood.
Hint of cappuccino.
Wonderfully creamy on the palate on raisins, chocolate, mint, banana
and liquorice. The oak is fairly loud, though. Midpalate I get some
citrus, ginger and pepper. Quite nice.
Nicely long finish on spices and mint
Still a great Auchentoshan, but the difference with the first batch is quite big (I tried them H2H). Thanks to Jen from Auchentoshan for the sample.
