Through
Whiskybase I was contacted by
The-Man-best-Friend, a German whisky lover.
He had noticed that I had not yet tried this 11
Year Old Auchentoshan from Hart Brothers and sent me a generous sample,
because he wanted to know how I felt about this Toshan. Well, well, are
those the perks of being somewhat well-known? Anyway, herzlichen
dank, Michael!
This is a typical Auchentoshan nose, exactly the way I like it.
Fairly sweet, delicate on lime and barley sugar. Mildly floral on
hay and lemon grass. Hints of toasted oak. Gooseberries in the
distance. Toffee apples. Pears in the pan. A sour touch of mandarin.
Nice!
Sliglty oily, almost creamy, on the palate. Again very sweet on
sugared nuts, baked apples, loads of citrus. Make that limoncello.
Boy, this goes down very easily.
Fairly long finish, in which a note of pepper appears as well as
some oak.
Typical aperitif style Toshan, easy as lemonade. Mesa happy.
