If you can help me expand my whisky palate, especially Auchentoshan, get in touch with me. Much obliged!
Auchentoshan 13 Year Old 1995 Douglas Laing - Old Malt Cask No of bottles: 365 ABV : 50% Color : white wine Tasted on 12/09/2012 |
Purple
This Old Malt Cask bottling from Douglas Laing is
a very pale Auchentoshan. As with each and every OMC bottling, this
one is neither chill-filtered, nor colored. It is bottled at what
they call the Golden Strength.
The nose is very typical Auchentoshan. Fresh with
vanilla and citrus (lime, in this case), very sweet and floral.
Jasmine, lavender and buttercups, but also some dried grass. Quince.
Light on the spice front. The color purple appears to my mind’s eye.
Very pleasant.
It is quite oily and mouthcoating. The attack is
fierce and peppery. Honeysweet, fruity. Poached pears, lime zest and
vanilla.
The finish is long, warming, sweet and dies on
orange peel.
What a pleasant surprise, especially after the
horrible Vom Fass. Feisty Auchentoshan. Thanks, Hans V, for the
sample!
